Crime:
Murder of Caroline Ellis, 20, servant of James Wraith, 76, of Water Royd Hall, Mirfield, near Dewsbury, and of James Wraith and his wife Ann Wraith, about 65, in the course of a robbery on 12 May 1847.Before his execution Reid wrote a statement confessing to being the sole agent in the murders. The statement procured a reprieve for Michael McCabe who had been convicted of the murders with him.
