    Crime:
    Highway robbery of Richard Terry of Ripon, gentleman, at Farnham, and taking a pocket book containing ?1200 in notes and bills and ?180 of gold.

    Richard Terry was the son of Thomas Terry who was in partnership with William Harrison as bankers in Ripon. See also TNA: ASSI 45/39/3/7-13.

    Date: 26 Mar 1737

    Crime:
    Arson - setting fire at night to the dwelling house of Mr Bell at Huby.

    Coulter claimed he did it in revenge for Mr Bell having threatened to have him committed to the House of Correction as a vagrant. See also TNA: ASSI 45/21/1(24).

  • Richard Varley

    Crime:
    Highway robbery (with David Evans) of Cornelius Bower.

    Varley was an accomplice of David Evans, hanged at the previous assizes, but his own trial was delayed owing to his suffering from fever. See also TNA: ASSI 45/25/4/162-167.
